Police identify Bradenton man killed in hit-and-run

The Florida Highway Patrol has identified the man killed in a hit-and-run along 15th Street East in Manatee County in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Martin Garcia, 27, of Bradenton was walking in the northbound lane of 15th Street East south of 44th Avenue East when a vehicle collided with the man in the street around 4:21 a.m. Saturday, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports.

The driver took off before officials arrived at the scene.

According to FHP, the driver failed to avoid the pedestrian and the man was walking in the lane of traffic when the incident occurred.

No skid marks were found in the road.

The make and model of the vehicle involved is unknown and the driver has not yet been identified. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
