Motorworks Brewing to host viral blues guitarist

What do you do when someone requests a classic by Steve Vai? You improvise, of course.

At least, that’s what blues guitarist David Smash did.

Judging by the 2 million views his performance racked up on YouTube, it looks like he made the right decision.

During an August gig at Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton, a woman in the crowd requested that Smash play “Tender Surrender,” one of Vai’s most-popular songs.

Smash returns to Motorworks at 6 p.m. on Thursday for another live performance in the brewery’s beer garden. Sonny’s BBQ will begin serving food at 4 p.m.
