A fiery crash closed lanes of Interstate 275 northbound in Hillsborough County during the early hours of Saturday morning, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2017 Toyota Camry, driven by a 32-year-old Tampa man, and a Road Ranger driven by a 42-year-old Wimauma man, were traveling north on I-275 near Busch Boulevard around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. The Camry overtook the Road Ranger, striking the rear, according to FHP.

Both vehicles burst into flames.

The driver of the Road Ranger truck suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to Tampa General Hospital for treatment, according to FHP.

Part of I-275 was closed for about three hours while crews investigated and cleaned up the crash.

The driver of the Toyota was arrested and charged with DUI property damage and DUI injury.

The crash also caused damage to the road, but it was unclear how extensive, according to Bay News 9.
