League of Women Voters to present program Monday on health care reform
The League of Women Voters of Manatee County will present a free public information program from noon to 1 p.m. Monday about health care reform and legislative proposals, featuring speakers from several fields of health.
Among the speakers are Kevin DiLallo, CEO of Manatee Memorial Hospital; Gene Stracener and Rick Bennett, representing Blue Cross & Blue Shield; and Victoria Kasdan, executive director of We Care Manatee, which serves low-income uninsured patients. Following their presentations, there will be questions and discussion with the audience.
“This affects all of us, so we should all be involved,” said Rosalie Shaffer, president of the LWVMC. “Are there better ideas out there? How can we as a nation ensure access to health care to all at an affordable cost?”
The free program will be held at the Manatee Memorial Hospital auditorium, 206 Second St. E. Enter at the main hospital entrance. Reservations are not required. For lunch before the event, attendees may use the hospital’s cafeteria, Second Street Bistro, which is also a short walk from the main doorway. For more information, call 941-729-9248.
