Two roundabouts coming to U.S. 41 starting next month

Roundabouts are coming to two intersections in Sarasota.

Construction on the rotaries on U.S. 41 at 10th and 14th streets will start mid-November, according to Florida Department of Transportation public information officer Robin Stublen.

The FDOT project spanning one-third of a mile is expected to take about 820 days, not including potential delays for things like weather, Stublen said. That puts the completion date in spring 2020.

“It’s going to be an inconvenience,” Stublen said.

The project construction cost is slated around $8.2 million, and includes improvements like bike lanes, 10-foot and 6-foot sidewalks and pedestrian signals.

IBT Construction LLC is the contractor for the project.
