Hurricane Irma’s arrival into Manatee County on Sept. 11 delayed, but didn’t stop Bradenton’s intentions to honor all of the first responders lost during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City, Virginia and Pennsylvania that killed thousands.

The event is now scheduled for Oct. 9 at 8 a.m. and will take place at the Riverwalk Emergency Services Memorial just north of the public parking lot and south of the splash pad. The event not only honors those who died on 9/11, but pays tribute to all public service employees who put their lives on the line on a daily basis.
