Cuban rower reported missing from world championships
A 24-year-old Cuban rower is missing after withdrawing from the World Rowing Championships at Nathan Benderson Park.
Licet Hernandez-Licea was reported missing just after 1 p.m. Thursday after she didn’t arrive for her morning competition, according to a news release from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
Hernandez-Licea was last seen at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday. Based on a preliminary investigation, the sheriff’s office does not suspect foul play and has entered Hernandez-Licea as a missing person.
Detectives are working with state and federal authorities to try to locate Hernandez-Licea.
