Boy airlifted to hospital after running into car’s path
A 5-year-old Bradenton boy was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to a hospital after running out into a road and being hit by a car, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At 7:48 p.m. Wednesday, a 23-year-old Bradenton woman was heading north on Fifth Street East in a 1997 Toyota Camry approaching the intersection with 60th Avenue Drive East when the boy ran across the road, according to a news release.
The boy, who had been walking along the east shoulder of 60th Avenue Drive East approaching the intersection with Fifth Street East, was seriously injured when the Camry hit him head on. The boy had been playing with two other children.
The boy was airlifted to Bayfront Medical Center. There were no other injuries reported.
The driver will not be cited or charged with anything, according to the report.
