Woman struck by tractor trailer while walking along interstate
A woman was struck by a tractor trailer as she was walking down the center lane of Interstate 75 in Hillsborough County Tuesday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Around 3:35 a.m. Tuesday, a woman was walking in the center lane of southbound Interstate 75 near the 272 mile marker when she was hit by the tractor trailer, according to FHP.
It is unclear why the woman was walking in the interstate. She suffered serious, life-threatening injuries and was flown to Tampa General Hospital.
The incident is still under investigation and troopers remain on scene.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 are closed north of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
