Man recovering after being shot in leg by acquaintance at Palmetto store

A 31-year-old man suffered non-life threatening injuries when he was shot in the leg inside the Citgo convenience store Monday in Palmetto, according to Palmetto police.

The victim had gotten into a fist fight with an acquaintance who ended up shooting him with a handgun inside the store at 203 10th St. W., Palmetto at about 4 p.m. Monday, according to a Palmetto Police Department news release.

“The wound was not severe and he was transported to Manatee Memorial Hospital for treatment,” the release states.

Palmetto police investigators have identified the suspect in the shooting and are actively seeking him, according to the news release.

Investigators are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time.
