Two Planning Commission seats open

Two seats on the Manatee County Planning Commission are up for grabs.

Planning commissioners make recommendations to the Manatee County Board of County Commissioners on future development by reviewing consistency to the land development code and comprehensive plan, suggesting special approvals and more.

Four-year terms will expire this October for commissioners Al Horrigan Jr. and Matt Bower.

Anyone who neither works for the county nor sits on another land development advisory board in unincorporated Manatee County can apply. Those who have experience with planning, environmental science, development or engineering may have a better chance of getting in.

Applications can be found at mymanatee.org/advisory_boards, and are due by Sept. 8.

For more information, contact planning agenda coordinator Bobbi Roy at 941-748-4501 ext. 6878 or bobbi.roy@mymanatee.org.
