Low-income Manatee County Area Transit riders will have the opportunity to get a discounted, unlimited monthly bus pass.

A new 31-day unlimited ride/fixed route bus pass is now available first-come, first-serve to “transportation disadvantaged” riders, who are described as those who cannot afford transportation for work, errands, school, medical or travel needs.

The pass is $20, compared to the normal $40. According to a press release, the passes must be prepaid in full by the 15th of the month prior and passes will be distributed within the first 10 days of the month at the Downtown Bradenton or DeSoto bus stations.

“Long term, the TD Bus Pass Program is the pathway to education, training and employment, affording clients a real opportunity for success and serving as a driving force for economic development in the community,” said Manatee County transit planning manager Ryan Suarez in a press release.

The services provided for “transportation disadvantaged” riders were created by the Florida Commission for the Transportation Disadvantaged and the Manatee County government.
