Troopers looking for truck that caused chain-reaction crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a damaged Ford pickup truck after it left the scene of a four-car crash Sunday night.

According to an FHP report, troopers believe around 8:38 p.m. the truck — which is said to be a Ford F-250 manufactured between 1999 and 2002 — drove eastbound on State Road 70 approaching 24th Street East and hit a Pontiac G6 as it was stopped for traffic. The rear strike caused a chain reaction, leading to two other cars in front of the G6 to be hit.

The last car to be hit as well as the Ford truck believed to have caused the crash both left the scene. Troopers found pieces of the truck left behind.

No one was reported injured.

Anyone with information on a Ford truck with front-end damage and a missing right side mirror can contact Trooper Ostermeyer at 941-751-8350.
