Failed home invasion leads to gunfire at Manatee home, but no one injured

Three armed men, including at least one with a shotgun, staged an unsuccessful home invasion in the 3000 block of 46th Avenue West at 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning in Bradenton.

But before the three left, one shotgun round was fired into the home, not resulting in any injuries, according to a Manatee County Sheriff’s Office report.

The suspects, who are still at large, were all wearing hockey-style masks, black shirts and black pants, the report states.

Once apprehended, they will be charged with attempted home invasion and aggravated assault with a firearm, the report adds.

The incident began when deputies received a call of shots fired at the home south of Cortez Road.

Once on the scene, deputies learned that when the suspects were unable to break into the home, they shot through a broken window adjacent to the front door.

The report doesn’t indicate how the resident was able to keep the intruders from gaining access.

A next-door neighbor said, “As far as I know, everyone is fine.”

Asked about the shooting, she said, “It was loud.”
