Flood warning extended for Manatee River at Myakka Head

The National Weather Service has extended the flood warning issued for the Manatee River near Myakka Head.

The river remains in minor flood stage after heavy rain fell across the basin Friday afternoon. The NWS has extended the food warning until 10 p.m. Sunday as a result.

The river was cresting on Saturday afternoon. As of 2 p.m. the river was at 12.7 feet, with flood stage at 11 feet. The NWS expects the river to fall below flood stage by early Sunday afternoon.

The last time the river crested at 12.7 feet was on June 9, 2013.
