Marine rescue underway of kayakers reportedly stranded near Perico Island

A water rescue was underway after kayakers reportedly got stuck on Prices Key, located near Perico Island, as thunderstorms moved into the area Wednesday afternoon.

At about 4 p.m., Manatee County Marine Rescue was dispatched to Prices Key to a report of kayakers being stranded. The small island is at the mouth of Palma Sola Bay.

First responders trying to find the kayakers were reporting poor visibility as a result of rain downpours and could not spot the kayakers.
