Miami has its museums. Port Charlotte has a deluge of doctors. But of the best places to retire in Florida — a veritable hotspot for the golden years — a local city topped the list: Sarasota.

By ranking quality of life, health care and activities, the city just south of Bradenton topped financial website WalletHub’s list of best places to retire in Florida.

Sarasota is said to have the best quality of life — which looked at things like cost of living, violent crime rate and air quality — and the best health care — which weighed qualifiers like the number of health care facilities per capita and life expectancy.

The Villages had the highest ranking for the activities category, which focused on things like number of golf courses and museums and the weather, but the central Florida city was ranked overall No. 103 out of 111.

The worst place to retire according to WalletHub was Fleming Island, just south of Jacksonville.

Bradenton was listed as the 10th best place to retire in the Sunshine State, as WalletHub said it had the eighth most health care facilities per capita, the 10th most fishing facilities per capita and the 19th highest percentage of people 65 and older.
