Shark Zone at Mote

The dinner bell for sharks in the Shark Zone at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium is the sound of a PVC pipe banging on the side of the tank. Colored “targets” let the different species swimming below know it’s their turn to feast on fish. Michele Taylor, a researcher who is deeply involved in the program, doesn’t see sharks as scary monsters, but as beautiful animals. Every day at 11 a.m. guests can see the fish in the Shark Zone tank get their meal, and on Wednesdays up to three people can pay for the opportunity to help with the feeding.
