Small fuel spill at Port Manatee cleaned up without incident
On Sunday morning, the Coast Guard responded to a fuel spill at Port Manatee.
During a vessel fueling operation, an estimated 1 gallon of fuel was spilled at Berth 7, according to a public notice of pollution release from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
“The source was immediately discovered and neutralized,” per the release. “Spill quantity was reportedly one gallon. Sheen on the water appeared consistent with the reported quantity. Absorbent boom was used to clean up the spill.”
The incident was reported to the National Response Center, which dispatched the Coast Guard. The spill was cleaned up by 2 p.m.
