All southbound lanes blocked on I-75 near mile marker 173 in Sarasota County

The Florida Highway Patrol has responded to a fatal crash that has blocked all southbound lanes on Interstate 75 near mile marker 173 in Sarasota County.

According to an email from Sergeant Jeff Rongish, one fatality has been confirmed and there are other injuries. It was not yet known how many vehicles were involved.

Motorists should seek alternate routes southbound through the North Port area.
