Boat being towed on I-4 ends up on weigh station entrance ramp after single-vehicle crash

Three people escaped injury Saturday evening after the driver in their Chevy Tahoe lost control while towing a 28-foot boat on Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Tahoe was traveling east on I-4 at about 7 p.m. near Mango Road and a weigh station when the trailer began to fishtail, according to FHP. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and the boat hit the rear of the vehicle, which hit a concrete barrier. According to the release, the impact caused the boat to dislodge and travel over the barrier, coming to rest in the weigh station entrance ramp, which was closed for almost two hours.
