Weather forecast: Scattered storms start the weekend

As expected, the storms got an earlier start Friday, and there was better coverage than the past couple days. Expect even better coverage this weekend.

There will be partly cloudy skies Saturday morning with lows in the mid to upper 70s.

Scattered storms will start Saturday morning in the Gulf or near area beaches. Then they will tend to propagate inland and eastward as the day progresses, with most of them inland by the evening.

Highs will be near 90 for coastal zones, but near 93 inland.

Scattered storms will die down Saturday night, with partly cloudy skies and lows in the mid to upper 70s.

They will get an even earlier start Sunday, with scattered storms in the gulf and along area beaches likely Sunday morning. Again, they will propagate inland and eastward as the day progresses, with most of them ending up inland by the late afternoon to evening. Highs will be between 89 and 92.

A normal July forecast will be with us next week, with a 50 percent coverage of scattered storms both Monday and Tuesday.
