Tampa man charged after allegedly damaging mosque property, vehicles
A Tampa man is facing charges after he allegedly drove into a gate and damaged several cars at a mosque, according to reports.
Shaun Urwiler, 42, crashed his truck into two vehicles and ran over a small tree in the parking lot of the Islamic Society of Tampa Mosque on Sligh Avenue East last week, deputies told WFLA.
Urwiler crashed through the mosque’s locked gate before leaving the scene and about $6,000 worth of damage to the vehicles and gate, according to WFLA.
Urwiler is charged with criminal mischief to a place of worship and criminal mischief $1,000 or more, both third-degree felonies, and criminal mischief more than $200, and violation of a domestic violence injunction, both first-degree misdemeanors, according to jail records. He was arrested June 16 and released Monday from jail on bond.
