Tropical Storm Bret forms, flood watch issued in Florida

A weather disturbance off the coast of Trinidad has been deemed a Tropical Storm Monday afternoon.

Tropical Storm Bret is about 125 miles southeast of Trinidad in the Atlantic, and was deemed a tropical storm after after hurricane hunter aircraft investigated the disturbance, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Bret is expected to move along South America in the coming days, impacting islands near Trinidad and Tobago in the next 24 hours, according to Bay News 9.

The storm however, is expected to weaken, though Florida could see some moisture from Bret later next week, according to Bay News 9.

A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for the coast of Louisiana after the possible development of a new tropical depression or storm in the Gulf of Mexico, Bay News 9 reported. A Flood Watch has been issued for Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.

A tropical storm watch is in effect from west of Intracoastal City to High Island, Texas, according to the Miami Herald.
