A burglary suspect jumped from the second floor of a building to escape but was caught in the next home he entered.

Jacob C. Millard, 26, is charged with two counts of burglary after he allegedly entered two homes Friday afternoon, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

His trouble started when a woman returned to her apartment in the 4100 block of 24th Street West around 2:41 p.m. Friday. Millard — dressed only in shorts — ran past the woman and out the front door, according to the sheriff’s office.

Witnesses told deputies they saw him running around the complex.

Millard then jumped from the second floor to the ground and ran across the street, where deputies say he went into another occupied dwelling.

People inside the home were able to subdue Millard and held him until deputies arrived and were able to arrest him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Millard was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries suffered from his second-floor jump, according to the sheriff’s office.
