Man flown to hospital after falling from back of vehicle

A truck driver was flown to the hospital after he fell off the back of his vehicle.

North Port police responded to the area of North Sumter Boulevard under the Interstate 75 overpass Friday after a possible truck driver fell from the back of his vehicle while trying to cover its load, according to a statement released by the department on Twitter.

The inside lane of North Sumter Boulevard is closed. Police ask that driver avoid the area if possible.

The person involved was flown by medical helicopter to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.
