Sarasota woman dies after motorcycle hits car
A 20-year-old motorcyclist died late Tuesday after a crash on State Road 70, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The motorcyclist, a Sarasota woman who has not been named pending next of kin notification, was traveling on a 2004 Suzuki GSX-R eastbound in the left lane on State Road 70 around 10:10 p.m. According to FHP, she was speeding faster than the posted limit as she approached 56th Court East.
A 21-year-old Bradenton man with two male passengers in a 2008 Infinity G35S was westbound on State Road 70 attempting to make a U-turn at the median turn lane and didn’t see the motorcyclist, according to FHP.
The front of the woman’s motorcycle hit the back right side of the man’s car. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation, according to FHP.
