Pedestrians struck, injured by hit-run driver
Two pedestrians walking along 301 Boulevard East were struck and injured by a vehicle Saturday night, and the driver sped from the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The pedestrians, a 28-year-old man from Fort Bragg, Calif., and a 47-year-old Bradenton woman, were walking eastbound with traffic on 301 Boulevard approaching 44th Avenue East at about 10:30 p.m., the FHP said.
One of the victims told troopers that a westbound vehicle on 301 Boulevard changed lanes and crossed the center line, striking them. The driver then fled at a high rate of speed. The Fort Bragg man sustained serious injuries, and the Bradenton woman was treated for minor injuries, the FHP said.
The victims were unable to provide a description of the vehicle to investigators.
Those with information on the incident are asked to call the FHP at 239-938-1800.
