Get used to running from your car to the door — or carrying your umbrella — because the rain’s not showing any signs of stopping.

The last few days have been relatively cloudy with several bouts of rain, and the forecast for the week shows more of the same.

Manatee County recorded 3.75 inches of rain in all of May and less than an inch in March and April, according to Florida Forest Service rainfall information.

Bradenton saw 1.56 inches of rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to Bay News 9.

Bay News 9 Meteorologist Josh Linker noted that the wet weather pattern won’t change much over the next day or two.

“Low pressure over the Northern Gulf of Mexico will continue to funnel deep tropical moisture into west Central Florida,” according to Linker on Bay News 9.

Wednesday will likely see more showers and thunderstorms with a high near 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

There’s at least a 50 percent chance of rain until Thursday, which will see an expected high of 85 degrees. The chance decreases to about 20 percent Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.

However, the chances of rain don’t go away anytime soon. The National Weather Service predicts showers and likely thunderstorms through Monday with highs in the mid-80s.

While the rain is welcomed by some, airports were forced to delay flights due to the weather.

Tampa International Airport tweeted Tuesday afternoon that more than 200 flights were delayed.

Manatee County, however, was able to finally lift a burn ban that’s been in place since late April thanks to the rain.

Florida Forest Service public information officer Patrick Mahoney said they can breathe after a long and active fire season.
