There are still a few weeks until the first official day of summer, but it will feel like summer in the Tampa Bay area this week, according to Bay News 9 meteorologist Brian McClure.

There is a 20 to 30 percent chance of mainly inland showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening, according to McClure.

Moisture will continue to build throughout the week, with Bay News 9 calling for a 40 to 50 percent chance of rain Thursday through Saturday. That’s good news for many areas that are well below normal in yearly rainfall even after recent rains.

The seven-day forecast shows highs in the low to mid 90s through most of the week.
