After fighting an already challenging fire, the battle is still raging on.

The Raintree fire near North Port — which broke out over the weekend — has burned 3,500 acres and is 70 percent contained, according to a tweet from Patrick Mahoney, public information officer for the Myakka River District of the Florida Forest Service.

Monday, crews battled a 306-acre breakout, Mahoney tweeted.

Crews previously told ABC Action News it was one of the fasted running fires they have ever fought.
