Breakout fire burns hundreds more acres in Sarasota County
After fighting an already challenging fire, the battle is still raging on.
The Raintree fire near North Port — which broke out over the weekend — has burned 3,500 acres and is 70 percent contained, according to a tweet from Patrick Mahoney, public information officer for the Myakka River District of the Florida Forest Service.
Monday, crews battled a 306-acre breakout, Mahoney tweeted.
We had a 306 acre breakout yesterday, and we are at 70% contained at this time. #RaintreeFire pic.twitter.com/ym7bDk7UV7
