FDOT tweet said Sunshine Skyway Bridge closed. But it wasn't.
Traffic cams showed vehicles traveling on the Sunshine Skyway Bridge Friday evening, despite a tweet saying it was closed that was posted on a Florida Department of Transportation Twitter account for traffic information.
The tweet reported the Sunshine Skyway Bridge was closed to traffic Friday evening because of heavy winds. However, motorists who contacted the Bradenton Herald and other media outlets reported the bridge remained opened to traffic.
DUE TO HEAVY WINDS, THE SUNSHINE SKYWAY BRIDGE IS CLOSED. PLEASE SEEK AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.

The Tampa Bay Traffic Info Twitter account released a tweet around 6:15 p.m. Friday asking drivers to seek an alternative route.
