Crash on I-75 in Venice area causes traffic jam

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies late Tuesday evening were assisting the Florida Highway Patrol with a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 southbound at mile marker 190 in the Venice area.

A large amount of construction debris was reported to be in the roadway, and emergency personnel were working to clear the interstate.

As of 10:40 p.m., one lane of traffic was open and traffic was moving very slowly with congestion and time delays, according to the sheriff’s office.
