Sarasota man dies in fatal crash on Clark Road

A 32-year-old Sarasota man died in a crash Friday night after losing control of a pickup truck he was driving and crashed into several tress and a barbed wire fence, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At 9:48 p.m. Friday, Mark A. Sprague was traveling west on Clark Road just east of Hi-Hat Ranch Boulevard in a 2001 Ford F350 when he lost control of the pickup truck at the end of a left-hand curve in the road, according to a news release. The pickup went off the road into the grassy shoulder on the north side of Clark Road.

Troopers say that Sprague then over-corrected, trying to get the pickup back onto Clark Road and ended up crossing the road and going into the shoulder of the south side of the road. The pickup kept traveling, crashing into several trees and a barbed wire fence.

Sprague was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
