60 new COVID-19 cases reported in Manatee County. Death toll is reduced by one

Florida health officials on Tuesday reported 60 new cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County, but reduced by one the total number of deaths related to the disease.

Without offering an explanation, the total number of deaths was reduced to 290. According to the Florida Department of Health’s daily report, the death were removed from the 75-84 age group, which now reports 91 total deaths instead of 92.

The total number of cases in Manatee is now 11,546.

Of the 290 deaths in Manatee County, 121 have been linked back to long-term care facilities.

Those over the age of 64 have been hit the hardest by the virus, representing 77% of the deaths.

The 60 new cases reported Tuesday were from 852 test results. Manatee County’s overall positivity rate increased slightly to 10.78%, according to health officials.

Statewide, another 106 Floridians have lost their lives to COVID-19, bringing Florida’s death toll to 14,143.

The number of infections in Florida increased by 3,266 to 704,568.

Manatee County cases and deaths by age group:

  • 0-4: Cases remained at 264 with no deaths.
  • 5-14: Cases remained at 756 with no deaths.
  • 15-24: Cases increased from 1,854 to 1,868 with one death.
  • 25-34: Cases increased from 1,941 to 1,950 with four deaths.
  • 35-44: Cases increased from 1,808 to 1,812 with six deaths.
  • 45-54: Cases increased from 1,650 to 1,659 with 13 deaths.
  • 55-64: Cases increased from 1,394 to 1,401 with 44 deaths.
  • 65-74: Cases increased from 879 to 890 with 54 deaths.
  • 75-84: Cases increased from 529 to 535 with a reduction in deaths, from 92 to 91.
  • 85 plus: Cases remained at 281 with 88 deaths.

Health officials have not identified 12 cases by age group and nonresident cases are not included.

Manatee County cases from Monday to Tuesday:

  • The total number of hospitalizations since the outbreak increased from 803 to 806.
  • The number of males infected is 5,315 compared to 5,991 females.
  • The total number of tests administered increased from 106,715 to 107,103.
  • Manatee County’s overall positivity rate increased slightly to 10.78%.

Surrounding counties:

  • Sarasota County: Cases increased from 8,147 to 8,177. The official death toll increased from 254 to 256.
  • DeSoto County: Cases increased from 1,565 to 1,566. The official death toll remained at 25.
  • Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,361 to 13,364. The official death toll remained at 11.
  • Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 41,947 to 42,118. The official death toll increased from 628 to 636.
  • Pinellas County: Cases increased from 22,049 to 22,129. The official death toll increased from 744 to 752.
