COVID-19 kills four more Manatee County residents. In Florida, 202 new deaths reported
COVID-19 has killed four more Manatee County residents, according to the Florida Department of Health. They were among 202 new deaths reported Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health.
In Manatee County, the official COVID-19 death toll is up to 282. Statewide, 13,618 residents have died.
The latest victims locally were a 92-year-old woman, a 61-year-old man, a 58-year-old woman and a 80-year-old woman. One of the four victims either lived or worked at a local long-term care facility.
There were also 48 new coronavirus infections reported in Manatee by the health department. In total, there have been 11,327 people who have tested positive for the virus since the pandemic got underway.
The latest new cases were among 438 test results released, with a daily positivity rate of 11%.
Statewide, there were 2,590 new positive cases announced on Wednesday. A total of 690,499 people have been infected in Florida.
As of Wednesday, there were 19 patients hospitalized at one of the county’s three general hospitals, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Blake Medical Center and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center, that were positive for the coronavirus. Fourteen patients were admitted for whom COVID-19 was a primary reason for admission, according to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration.
Meanwhile, the three hospitals had 23 available and staffed beds, including seven ICU beds.
Surrounding counties:
- Sarasota County: Cases increased from 7,912 to 7,948. The official death toll rose from 248 to 251.
- DeSoto County: Cases remained at 1,550 to 1,551. The official death toll rose from 23 to 24.
- Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,306 to 1,313. The official death toll rose from 10 to 11.
- Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 41,016 to 41,178. The official death toll rose from 605 to 614.
- Pinellas County: Cases increased from 21,620 to 21,701. The official death toll rose from 729 to 736.
