31 more cases of COVID-19 in Manatee as Florida records lowest case total since June
Manatee County saw 31 more confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents, according to data released Monday by the Florida Department of Health. They were among 1,685 new cases reported statewide.
Statewide, it was the lowest number of new cases announced since June 10, when 1,371 were reported.
Florida’s total case count since testing began now stands at 685,439. Another 21 Florida residents have died from the coronavirus, according to the state health department, which brings the statewide death toll to 13,317 residents and 163 non-residents.
In Manatee County, there have been 11,241 reported cases of COVID-19. Deaths remained at 277 on Monday.
In Manatee County, 2.5% of known COVID-19 cases have been fatal. Younger age groups have tested positive for the virus in higher numbers than older age groups, while older people have been more likely to require hospitalization and die from an infection. In the 55-64 age group, 3% of known local cases were fatal; in the 65-84 age group, 16.4% were fatal; and in the 85 and older age group, 27.6% were fatal.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths and the rates at which Floridians are testing positive for the virus have steadily decreased over the last several weeks, according to health department data.
On Monday, the overall positivity rate for Florida decreased slightly from 13.4% to 13.39%.
The overall positivity rate in Manatee County remained at 10.78%. For tests administered over the last week, the average positivity rate was 3.3%, and the average rate for the week prior was 3.4%.
Manatee County from Sunday to Monday
- Cases increased from 11,210 to 11,241.
- The death toll remained at 277.
- Hospitalizations since the outbreak increased from 784 to 787 residents.
- The number of males infected is 5,178 compared to 5,819 females and 126 unidentified.
The total number of tests administered is 104,238.
- The county’s positivity rate remained at 10.78%. That compares to 10.8% last week, 10.83% two weeks ago, 10.9% three weeks ago and 11% a month ago.
- 842 cases (8% of all cases) and 125 deaths were among residents and staff of long-term care facilities in Manatee.
32 cases have been reported at Manatee County correctional facilities.
1,339 children have tested positive for COVID-19 in Manatee.

- Cases increased from 683,754 to 685,439, including 8,077 non-residents.
