Manatee has 46 new coronavirus infections. Florida has lowest single-day count since June

Manatee County reported 46 new coronavirus infections Monday. Statewide, there were 1,758 new cases — the lowest daily count of new cases since June, according to Florida Department of Health.

Across the state, there have been 665,730 people infected with the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, according to the health department.

In Manatee County, infections now total 10,932.

The state also confirmed the deaths of 34 more Florida residents from COVID-19, the respiratory caused by the novel coronavirus. Statewide, there have been 12,642 residents and 156 non-residents who have died since March.

There were no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Manatee County on Monday. The official death toll of Manatee County residents from COVID-19 remains at 275.

The latest new cases reported locally were among the 438 test results released on Monday by the health department, with a 10.5% positivity rate.

According to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration, there were 20 patients admitted to one the county’s three general hospitals with COVID-19 being a primary reason for admission. The hospitals had 141 available beds, including 15 ICU beds, on Monday.

Surrounding counties:

  • Sarasota County: Cases increased from 7,619 to 7,644. The official death toll remained at 233.
  • DeSoto County: Cases increased from 1,534 to 1,536. The official death toll remained 23.
  • Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,224 to 1,235. The official death toll remained at nine.
  • Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 39,450 to 39,600. The official death toll dropped from 586 to 585.
  • Pinellas County: Cases increased from 20,992 to 20,988. The official death toll remained at 701.
