26 new coronavirus infections reported in Manatee County. Florida reports 1,823 new cases

There were 26 new coronavirus infections in Manatee County, and 1,823 total new cases reported statewide on Tuesday by the Florida Department of Health.

Manatee County has had a total of 10,699 coronavirus infections since March. The state has had a total of 650,092 cases.

The deaths of 44 residents from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the coronavirus were also reported in the latest data released by the health department. A total of 11,915 residents and 152 non-residents have died in Florida from COVID-19.

None of the latest deaths occurred in Manatee County. Locally, a total of 266 residents have been killed by COVID-19.

The 26 new cases reported locally were among the 584 test results released by FDOH, with a 4.5 percent positivity rate.

Tuesday marked the lowest number of cases reported statewide since June and the third time that total cases reported in a day dropped below 2,000, with 1,838 cases reported Monday and 1,885 cases reported on Aug. 31.

Hospitalizations continue to decline with 16 patients currently admitted at one of Manatee County’s three general hospitals with COVID-19 as the primary reason for admission, according to the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration. Among the three hospitals, there were a total of 115 available beds on Tuesday, including 10 ICU beds.

The data provided by AHCA does not account for how many employees are available to staff the beds.

Surrounding counties:

  • Sarasota County: Cases increased from 7,434 to 7,457. The official death toll remained at 216.
  • DeSoto County: Cases increased from 1,524 to 1,526. The official death toll remained at 22.
  • Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,175 to 1,177. The official death toll remained at nine.
  • Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 38,545 to 38,652. The official death toll rose from 562 to 565.
  • Pinellas County: Cases increased from 20,474 to 20,526. The official death toll rose from 673 to 678.
