17 more cases of COVID-19 in Manatee. Florida has lowest number of new cases since June

Another 17 Manatee County residents have tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest data from the Florida Department of Health on Monday. Statewide, 1,838 new cases were reported, the fewest since mid-June.

The deaths of an additional 22 Florida residents from COVID-19 were also confirmed. The state’s death toll is now at 11,871 Florida residents and 152 non-residents, for a total of 12,023.

No new deaths were reported in Manatee County on Monday, where the death toll remained at 266 residents. The death rate among confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Manatee County residents is currently 2.5%, according to health department data.

There have now been 648,269 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida. Florida ranks second in the U.S. for confirmed cases, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, and fifth for deaths.

In Manatee, 10,673 infections have been recorded.

Florida has recently seen the lowest daily new case totals of COVID-19 in months as testing decreases and daily positivity rates remain low. Monday’s total of 1,838 cases marked a new low since June 15, when 1,758 cases were reported.

Florida’s overall positivity rate, a measure of all tests since the outbreak began, responded slightly to the falling numbers on Monday as it moved from 13.49% to 13.48%.

The cumulative positivity rate in Manatee County decreased from 10.83% to 10.81%.

Manatee County from Sunday to Monday:

  • Cases increased from 10,656 to 10,673.
  • The death toll remained at 266.
  • Hospitalizations since the outbreak remained at 760.
  • The number of males infected are 4,904 compared to 5,523 females.
  • Manatee County’s overall positivity rate fell slightly from 10.83% to 10.81%.

  • The number of tests administered since the outbreak increased from 98,423 to 98,739.
  • 815 cases (8% of all cases) and 122 deaths were among residents and staff of long-term care facilities in Manatee.

  • 29 cases have been reported at Manatee County correctional facilities.

  • 1,264 children have tested positive for COVID-19 in Manatee.

Florida from Sunday to Monday:

  • Cases increased from 646,431 to 648,269.
  • The death toll increased from 11,849 to 11,871 Florida residents. Non-resident deaths remained at 152.
  • Florida’s positivity rate decreased slightly from 13.49% to 13.48%.

Surrounding counties:

  • Sarasota County: Cases increased from 7,410 to 7,434. The official death toll remained at 216.
  • DeSoto County: Cases increased from 1,523 to 1,524. The official death toll remained at 22.
  • Hardee County: Cases increased from 1,166 to 1,175. The official death toll remained at nine.
  • Hillsborough County: Cases increased from 38,426 to 38,545. The official death toll remained at 562.
  • Pinellas County: Cases increased from 20,425 to 20,474. The official death toll rose from 672 to 673.
