64 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Manatee County, six under the age of 14
Florida health officials on Saturday reported 64 new cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County bringing the county’s total number of infections since the outbreak in March to 10,123.
There were no deaths reported in Manatee County, leaving the death toll at 248.
According to the latest age group infections reported by the state, six of the new cases were in children between 5 and 14 years of age while 11 of the new cases were between 15 and 24 years old.
The most vulnerable age groups of over 65 years of age recorded 13 new cases.
The elderly continue to be the hardest age groups hit with fatalities in Manatee County despite representing the least amount of cases.
Those residents over the age of 65 represent just 17 percent of the total number of cases, but 78 percent of the deaths.
The number of the deaths in Manatee County that have been traced back to long-term care facilities as of Saturday’s update represent 118 of the 248 deaths, including five staff members. However, the total number of long-term care patients infected with COVID-19 represents just 7 percent of the overall number of cases.

- 0-4: Cases remained at 237, with no deaths. (No hospitalizations.)
- 5-14: Cases increased from 648 to 654, with no deaths. (Three hospitalizations.)
- 15-24: Cases increased from 1,578 to 1,587, with one death. (Eight hospitalizations.)
- 25-34: Cases increased from 1,726 to 1,736, with four deaths. (37 hospitalizations.)
- 35-44: Cases increased from 1,607 to 1,619, with four deaths. (79 hospitalizations.)
- 45-54: Cases increased from 1,456 to 1,464, with nine deaths. (78 hospitalizations.)
- 55-64: Cases increased from 1,213 to 1,220, with 35 deaths. (136 hospitalizations.)
- 65-74: Cases increased from 768 to 775, with 48 deaths. (135 hospitalizations.)
- 75-84: Cases increased from 469 to 471, with 80 deaths. (149 hospitalizations.)
- 85 plus: Cases increased from 236 to 240, with 67 deaths. (78 hospitalizations.)
Florida’s death toll on Saturday climbed by 106 new fatalities, bringing the state’s death toll to 10,274, while adding 6,314 new cases. The state’s infection total creeps closer to 600,000 with 597,597 cases since the pandemic began.
