Manatee County reports 73 new coronavirus cases. More than 10,000 Floridians have died

There were 73 new coronavirus infections confirmed in Manatee County, as the numbers of Floridans who have died from the virus surpasses 10,000.

The Florida Department of Health announced the deaths of 117 residents across the state from COVID-19 in the latest data released on Thursday morning. A total of 10,049 residents have died from the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

The deaths of two non-residents were also reported. There have 137 non-residents die from COVID-19 in Florida.

No new COVID-19 deaths were reported in Manatee County, where the death toll of residents who have died from the disease stands at 247.

With the latest cases announced, Manatee County has had a total of 9,997 coronavirus infections since the pandemic got underway.

Surrounding counties:

  • Sarasota County cases increased from 6,814 to 6,850. The death toll rose from 179 to 180.
  • DeSoto County cases increased from 1,426 to 1,438. The death toll remained at 21.
  • Hardee County cases increased from 1,023 to 1,045. The death toll remained at eight.
  • Hillsborough County cases increased from 34,851 to 35,061. The death toll rose from 508 to 512.
  • Pinellas County cases increased from 18,994 to 19,087. The death toll rose from 582 to 587.
