Blake Medical Center resumes offering elective surgeries after pause for COVID concerns

Blake Medical Center announced Thursday that it has resumed performing elective surgeries and procedures.

“Elective surgeries and procedures can provide significant, life-enhancing benefits for patients,” Randy Currin, president and chief executive officer, said in a press release.

“The hospital has the capacity and resources to accommodate elective surgeries and related care safely. We are pleased to restart these services for our physicians and patients,” Currin said.

Blake is working with physicians to accommodate the rescheduling of deferred surgeries and procedures as well as the scheduling of new elective surgeries and procedures.

Blake Medical Center, 2020 59th St. W., remains focused on the safety and protection of patients and caregivers and continues to ensure protections are in place to provide those in need with safe medical care for both COVID-19 related and non-COVID-19 related needs, the hospital said in the press release.

Manatee Memorial Hospital, which which paused performing elective surgeries on July 20 due to COVID-19 concerns, resumed performing elective procedures on Monday.

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center has also resumed elective procedures as well.
