104 more cases of COVID-19 in Manatee. Florida adds nearly 3,500 more 

An additional 104 cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County were among nearly 3,500 new cases reported around the state on Sunday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

Manatee County’s cumulative number of positive cases since testing for the coronavirus began stands at 1,890. The death toll remained at 126 on Sunday.

The rate at which people are testing positive for the virus in Manatee County increased to 5.9 percent on Sunday. It was the third day in a row that the local test positive rate increased. The statewide test positivity rate, now at 6.1 percent, has also risen over the past week.

The number of reported cases at long-term care facilities in Manatee County remained at 461, or 25 percent of the county’s total cases. Of 126 COVID-19-related deaths in the county, 85 were among residents and staff of the facilities, according to the state health department.

The number of cumulative reported cases in Florida now stands at 97,291 as of Sunday morning.

Manatee County cases from Saturday to Sunday:

  • The number of cumulative positive cases increased from 1,786 to 1,890.
  • The number of deaths remained at 126.
  • Resident hospitalizations since the outbreak began increased by one to 247.
  • The number of males infected is 872, compared to 992 females.
  • The number of residents tested increased to 32,123.
  • The county’s test positive rate increased for the third day in a row and now stands at 5.9%, compared to 5.1% two weeks ago and 6.7% a month ago.

  • 461 cases (25% of all cases) were among residents and staff of long-term care facilities in Manatee. (Another six deaths tied to care facilities were reported over the past week, bringing the total to 86.)

Sarasota County cases from Saturday to Sunday:

  • The number of cases increased from 926 to 962.
  • The death toll remained at 94.
  • The number of resident hospitalizations since the outbreak began increased by two to 182.
  • The number of residents tested increased to 30,459.
  • The number of males infected is 425 compared to 512 females.
  • Sarasota County’s test positive rate increased from 3.1% to 3.2% on Sunday. That compares to 2.8% last week and 4.8% a month ago.

Florida cases from Saturday to Sunday:

  • The number of cases increased from 93,797 to 97,291.
  • The death toll increased from 3,144 to 3,161.
  • The statewide test positive rate is 6.1% compared to 5.4% last week and 5.8% a month ago.

Surrounding counties:

  • Pinellas County cases increased from 3,438 to 3,667. The death toll increased from 114 to 115.
  • Hillsborough County cases increased from 5,319 to 5,580. The death toll remained at 114.
  • Polk County cases increased from 1,970 to 2,042. The death toll remained at 78.
  • Hardee County cases increased from 272 to 289. The death toll remained at one.
  • Desoto County cases increased from 439 to 450. The death toll remains at 10.
