44 new COVID-19 cases reported in Manatee County. Total count surpasses 1,400

Another 44 people who’ve tested positive for the coronavirus in Manatee County are among the 1,758 total new cases statewide on Monday, according to the Florida Department of Health.

There are now 1,421 people who have tested positive locally for the coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19. Across Florida, there have been 77,326 cases total since the state’s first case in March.

The death toll in Manatee County remained the same on Monday, 115.

Statewide, there were seven new deaths reported in Broward, Indian River, Palm Beach and Volusia counties. A total of 2,938 people have died.

Cases in Florida have continued to surge for the past several days, with testing unable to account for all the new cases. Since Friday, there have been 168 new positive cases reported in Manatee County.

To date, the county has tested 27, 624 people. Overall, 5.1% of those tested have been positive for the virus.

Monday’s results had a positive rate of 7.6% of the 582 completed test results reported.

On Sunday, the Manatee Department of Health staff went to the Mr G Flea Market, 10816 U.S. 41 N., Palmetto, to distribute masks and provide testing to migrant farm workers, according to an internal county report.

Residents and staff at skilled nursing homes and assisted living facilities continue to account for about 32% of all cases and 69% of COVID-19 deaths.

Langdon Hall of Bradenton, as assisted living facility located at 1120 33rd Ave. W., Bradenton, is the newest local long-term care facilities with confirmed cases. The ALF has one staff member who had tested positive, according to latest report from FDOH.

Manatee Department of Health staff tested more than 80 people at Presbyterian Villas retirement community, according to the county report. Those results are still pending.

In Sarasota County, there were 13 new cases, making a total of 780 people who have tested positive for the coronavirus. The death toll remains at 91.

Hillsborough County had 213 new cases on Monday, making a total of 3,826 people who have tested positive. The death tolls remained steady in Hillsborough and Pinellas at 92 and 101, respectively. Pinellas had 154 new cases, making 2,389 people who have tested positive.
