Manatee County Libraries to launch curbside pickup next week. Here are the details

Manatee County Library cardholders will once again be able to get their hands on books and other physical library materials thanks to a new curbside pickup program launching on Monday.

The service is by appointment only and will be available at all six library branches, according to Manatee County Government.

Curbside checkout process

  1. Cardholders can call a library branch or visit the Manatee Libraries website to place materials on hold.
  2. A notification will be sent to the library user when the items are ready for pickup.

  3. The library user can then call their branch and schedule a pickup time.

  4. The checked out items will be left on an outdoor table for pickup at the designated time. Posted signs will offer directions.

Those who do not currently have a Manatee Libraries card can apply for a temporary eCard online in order to start placing items on hold. The eCards and standard library cards also allow access to digital materials.

The pickup service is part of a phased reopening plan for the library system, according to the county. All library branches are planned to reopen with limited hours and occupancy later in June with the exception of the Little Discovery Center at 321 15th St. W., Bradenton.

Those who are approved for an eCard will have to complete the application for a regular card within 30 days of when libraries reopen, according to Manatee Libraries.
