Palmetto’s annual Fourth of July bash canceled due to COVID-19

The annual Fourth of July celebration at Sutton Park in Palmetto has been canceled due to the coronavirus.

Wynonna & The Big Noise, featuring country star Wynonna Judd, was scheduled to headline the 2020 event. The performance has now been rescheduled for July 4, 2021.

“The decision was preemptively made in order to protect event patrons during these uncertain times,” a press release from the city of Palmetto said. “We hope to see everyone at next year’s Fourth Fest Concert.”

This would have marked the event’s 10th year. It is produced by the Palmetto Community Redevelopment Agency.

A fireworks display over the Manatee River usually marks the conclusion of Fourth Fest. This year, fireworks will instead be launched over the Labor Day weekend, according to the city of Palmetto.
