Two new COVID-19 cases in Manatee County. State adds 424 new cases
There are two new COVID-19 cases in Manatee County, according to the Florida Department of Health.
A total of 990 people in Manatee County have tested positive for the coronavirus, which causes the disease COVID-19. Statewide,
Statewide, an additional 509 people tested positive. There are now 52,255 cases reported total statewide.
The FDOH updated its dashboard a second time on Tuesday, adding an additional 85 positive cases not reported its regular daily update.
Across the state, a total of seven more deaths were announced — the lowest daily number in weeks. The state’s death toll now stands at 2,259, with latest deaths reported in Broward, Pasco, Polk, Walton and Washington counties.
In Manatee County, the death toll remains at 91, fifth-highest county total in the state, behind only Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Lee counties. Likewise, the mortality rate in the Manatee County remains among the highest in the state, with 9% of confirmed cases ending in deaths, more than twice the state’s rate.
More than 60 percent of the deaths in the county are connected to skilled nursing homes or assisted living facilites. Again, only Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Lee counties have more confirmed deaths in these facilities.
Manatee County facilities added to list of sites connected to COVID-19 cases are Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay and Summerfield Retirement.
In Sarasota County, there are a total of 594 cases confirmed. The death toll remains at 73.
