20 more cases of COVID-19 in Manatee County. Nearly 600 more statewide
An additional 20 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Manatee County, according to the Florida Department of Health.
They were among 595 new cases reported statewide on Sunday.
Manatee County has now had 756 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since testing for the coronavirus began.
There were 205 cases in the county with ties to long-term care facilities, according to a report from the state health department.
There have been 74 confirmed COVID-19-related deaths in Manatee County, 46 of which were among residents or staff of long-term care facilities.
About 9.5 percent of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in Manatee County were fatal, compared to about 4.2 percent statewide.
Across the state of Florida, six new deaths were reported since Saturday. The death toll from COVID-19 in the state is now 1,721, and the number of cases increased to 40,596 as of Sunday morning.
Manatee County numbers from Saturday to Sunday

Sarasota County numbers from Saturday to Sunday
- The number of positive cases increased from 418 to 426.
- The death toll remained at 57.
- Hospitalizations increased from 136 to 143.
- The number of men infected is 172, compared to 238 women.
- The number of residents tested increased from 6,458 to 6,593.
- Sarasota County’s test positive rate is 6.5%.
Florida COVID-19 numbers from Saturday to Sunday
- The state’s number of positive cases increased from 40,001 to 40,596.
- The state’s death toll increased from 1,715 to 1,721.
- The state’s percentage of positive cases from the number tested is 7.5%.
Other surrounding counties
- Pinellas County cases increased from 848 to 861. The death toll rose to 60.
- Hillsborough County cases increased from 1,400 to 1,432. The death toll remained at 37.
- Polk County cases increased from 623 to 636. The death toll remained at 33.
- Hardee County cases remained at 36. There have been no reported deaths in Hardee County.
- Desoto County cases remained at 47. The death toll is five.
