Two more Manatee County residents die from COVID-19. Florida cases grow beyond 37,000
The Florida Department of Health reported two more deaths in Manatee County related to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.
According to health officials on Tuesday morning, there have now been 61 deaths related to COVID-19 in Manatee County.
There were 48 new cases since Monday, bringing the county’s total 684. Three more people have been hospitalized, bringing the total number of patients to 165.
Florida has a total of 37,439 cases, including 1,471 deaths.
Manatee County’s breakdown from Monday to Tuesday:
- Number of cases increased from 636 to 684.
- Manatee County’s death toll increased from 59 to 61.
- Hospitalizations increased from 162 to 165.
- The number of men infected is 286 compared to 394 females.
- Number of tests increased from 4,338 to 5,004.
- Manatee County’s percentage of positive cases per testing remains above the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, at 13.7 percent.
- Age range of infected: 1-101.
Sarasota County’s breakdown from Monday to Tuesday:
- Number of cases increased from 385 to 395.
- Sarasota County’s death toll increased from 47 to 48.
- Hospitalizations increased from 123 to 124.
- The number of men infected is 158 compared to 219 females.
- The number of tests increased from 5,166 to 5,389.
- Sarasota County’s percentage of positive cases per testing is 7.3 percent.
Florida’s numbers breakdown from Monday to Tuesday:
- Number of cases increased from 36,897 to 37,439.
- Florida’s death toll climbed from 1,399 to 1,471.
- Florida’s rate of positive cases per testing is 8 percent.
Surrounding counties not already mentioned:
- Pinellas County cases increased from 784 to 788. The death increased from 42 to 44.
- Hillsborough County cases increased from 1,300 to 1,324. The death toll increased from 29 to 32.
- Polk County cases increased from 536 to 540. The death toll remains increased from 26 to 28.
- Hardee County cases increased from 33 to 34. There have been no reported deaths.
- Desoto County cases increased from 39 to 40. The death toll remains at four.
